"Connecting Horsemanship With Community for Over 70 Years"

It is the Mission of the Yamhill County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse to represent the people of Yamhill County and the Yamhill County Sheriff through volunteer Public service; to project and encourage an environment of trust, security and civic involvement; and to promote skillful, safe and effective horsemanship.
• To serve as a mounted service oriented extension of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office.
• To represent the Sheriff at public functions and provide limited services during community events.
• To participate in limited law enforcement activities.
• To foster positive horsemanship in the community.
• To represent the Sheriff’s Office at parades and other public events.
• To provide a service to the community such as parking and traffic control.

New Membership Requirements:

Members of the Yamhill County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse shall consist of all those male or female persons who are elected to membership and:
• Are of good moral character and reputation.
• At least 18 years of age at the time of their election.
• Reside in Yamhill County or it’s vicinity.
• Is a citizen of the United States.
• Have required acceptable mount.
• Provide own transportation for movement of their mount.
• Perform satisfactorily on the horse and rider evaluation.

Persons interested in becoming a member of the Posse should call for info. A general volunteer application must be submitted to the Sheriff's Office.
